La Rochelle - ENCORE!

On Wednesday we went back to La Rochelle with the intention of doing some outdoor things, but it was too cold.
I mean, right?  You can tell even from this picture!
A pigeon and some barnacles.

We went to a "real" Irish pub and got a very exciting lunch.

I haven't seen ice in a drink since I got here.  It's the little things.
Beef and Guinness pie.  Man, this was good.
We decided to see the Aquarium again, but this time with the audio tour.  Top fact I learned: there is a fish that changes color for camouflage, and also when he's angry.

Like a mood ring!
They also totally non-ironically ended one audio track by saying that sharks got a bad rap, and very few of them were dangerous to humans (and then they only attack because they think surfers are seals), then began the next audio track by saying that sharks were some of the most dangerous animals.  Huh?

A few more aquarium photos (with the possibility of stealing more from my friend later).

Amy found Nemo!
A jellyfish...very sci-fi looking.
BOOYA!

I don't remember what this is but it's cool looking.

Horseshoe crabs!

  1. Hi ya! Ok, there are actually quite a few 'fish' that change colors 'like a mood ring' (I like that analogy!). I think what you have in this picture is a cuttle fish. Octopus also change colors. The 'boo-ya' is a Wolf Eel & the thing you couldn't remember the name of was a Nautilus. I love scuba diving & seeing these up close & personal!! :) xoxoxo Loretta
