The kids were very complimentary about my haircut. One girl told me I was beautiful. Another girl asked me if I'd gotten a haircut, then told me it was pretty. Another kid actually didn't recognize me (they're just bangs, kid. It's not like I got plastic surgery).
I did the Halloween song I did last lesson again with my CE1 class. These are the phrases in the song:
Walk like a ghost
Fly like a witch
Hop like a black cat
Smile like a pumpkin
Happy Halloween!
The teacher and I quizzed them to see if they learned the words. Here's what they came up with when we'd mime an action and see if they could tell us what it was.
Pancake!
Fuck! (this kid actually wasn't cutting up, which made it way funnier; he had combined fly and walk)
Flack!
Purple!
I'm pretty sure I also heard fly like a bitch once.
In my older classes, this is pretty much what I did for an hour:
Phrase: I have two brothers.
Me: Repeat! I have two brothers.
Child: c'est quoi déjà? (what is it again?)
Me: I have two brothers.
Child: mumbles.
Me: (in French) louder!
Child: I am brazzem.
Me: I HAVE two BROTHERS.
Child: I 'ave two bruzzer.
Me: hhhhhhave.
Child: Hi have...
Me: I HAVE.
Child: I have two bruzzer.
Me: sssssss.
Child: quoi?
Me: brotherS.
Child: brothers.
Me: (in French) say a COMPLETE PHRASE. (in English) I have two brothers.
Child: I have two brothers.
Me: very good.
To next child:
Me: (in French) your turn.
Child: c'est quoi déjà?
Repeat dialogue. 20 times.
