It's real for us

After a fruitless search to find Harry Potter in English, I caved and went to see it in French.  It was still amazing, although I can't get over the way they pronounce "Hermione".  (Speaking of Hermione, her dubbed voice sounded about 30 years old.  Also the creepy characters like Snape, Voldemort, and Bellatrix are much creepier in English.  Other than that, though, it was fine.)  The combination of the straightforward dialogue, and the fact that I know the story like the back of my hand resulted in a comprehension level of 100%, but on the other hand, I'd prolly understand it in Chinese, considering how many times I've read those books.
Nerd alert!
Also, I should mention that it was snowing.  Considering how much I hate dealing with snow, I think I get the Harry Potter fan of the week award for braving snow to see that movie.  As we were waiting in line (inside, thankfully) a group of people came out of one of the theaters and saw that it was snowing.  I haven't seen a group of adults get so happy about snow since I lived in North Carolina, and I've never seen French people get that excited in public.  The people coming out of the theater were laughing and exclaiming in glee.  Some were calling and texting friends with the good news, other people were running out into the street in delight. "It's snowing, it's snowing!"

I was somewhat less enthusiastic.

Today is a gorgeous day and the sun is shining - no traces of snow.  If that's how snow works here, super pretty but short-lasting, then even I might learn to enjoy snow again.  Maybe I'll be one of those people scampering out into the snow next time.
