Me: How are you?
*holding up flashcard with the drawing for "tired"*
Little girl: I'm drunk!
Little girl: Megan, do you know Michael Jackson? (I get this question at least twice a week - usually they are asking if I know his music, sometimes they are asking if I knew him personally.)
Me: Yes, I know who he is.
Little girl: Was he American?
Me: Yes...
Little girl: Oh, good! *walks away singing Beat It*
Me: in America, we don't faire la bise.
Little child, in a distressed tone: why, don't you like each other? don't Americans have friends?
Me (to one of my little favorites at the gate): Bonjour.
Adorable little girl: Non, Megan, on dit pas bonjour, on dit HELLO! (No, Megan, we don't say bonjour, we say HELLO!)
Oh, they can be cute when they want to be...
And sometimes, adults say the darndest things too:
Me: What's the weather like today?
Adult student: It's froggy.
