Last night was the Christophe Maé concert. I've loved him for about five years, and I can't believe I finally got the chance to see him live! He put on a really fun live show - lots of dancing, antics on stage, and audience participation. Even though I only knew about 75% of the words (hey, they're all in French!), that did not stop me from singing along and jumping around like a 15 year old fangirl. I also kind of stalked his tour bus - I was ready to shout out, "I came all the way from America to see you!" But he never came out to sign. He must not have known I was there.
DISCLAIMER: if at any point during the following post you think to yourself, "wow Megan sure took a lot of pictures", just remember that
you have no idea. We're talking triple digits. The guards were checking for cameras at the door, but I managed to create a smokescreen by pretending not to speak French well when they got upset that I had a water bottle (of all things). In the confusion, they forgot to keep looking for a camera. Also once you got in the door with the camera everybody immediately stopped caring and you could take all the pictures you wanted. Sometimes France is puzzling, but anything that lets me take lots of pictures of my French husband, as I like to call him, is fine by me. Also there was a lot of light and dancing, so many of the pictures were blurry. The best of the crop is below.

| This would have been a super awesome shot if I knew how to aim a camera properly. |
 |
| "Envie d'elle, c'est ma plus belle nuit, ma lune de miel."

 |
| No, I wasn't this close. Super zoom FTW. |
 |
| A spotlight? Or Christophe Maé being spontaneously illuminated by a beam of pure fangirl love? You be the judge. |

| All that's missing is a ukulele player. HINT, HINT. |

| La classe! |
It's so surreal that I actually got to go - I remember buying the ticket at my break at work, in America, before I even had a place to live. There was a moment of panic when I thought it might not all work out - the show was on a Sunday night, which created a transportation crisis. However, after a brief hissy fit ("
how come nothing in this country is ever open?!")
I pulled it together and decided to spend the night in Bordeaux at what turned out to be the
worst hostel ever (dirty
and unfriendly - bonus!), and get up super early to make it back to teach today. Every single second was completely worth it.
Oh, and while I may not have known all the words to every song, I was able to nail this phrase every time (and the audience was called on to shout it many, many times) during the encore,
Je me lâche:
CM:
C'est pas que je n'aime pas ma femme, mais j'en peux plus d'entendre -
Audience:
Je suis pas trop grosse? NON!
