La Rochelle: round 2

I really love La Rochelle, and jumped at the chance to go see my favorite city in France with my friend Amy and some of the other Niort assistants on February 5th (still catching up with these posts!)  Also, I'd never been to the aquarium!

My home!

They're like art!

They were just randomly walking around - I wanted to ride one but couldn't figure out where to sign up...
Wow.
Now, I don't eat out much here, but we had one of the best meals I've had in France to date.  It was so, so, so amazing.

After some shopping, we split up because Amy and I really wanted to go to the aquarium.  (You know me, if there's something to do with animals I want to do it.)  We consulted a map, then set off boldly from the Hotel de Ville in the direction of the aquarium.  After about 15 minutes of walking, we saw something familiar up ahead and got excited because we thought we were close...only to find out that the "familiar" sight was, in fact, the Hotel de Ville.  We had managed to come around in a complete circle.  We laughed so hard that people were literally staring.  Round 2, we did manage to find it.  (The Bauer Wander Method always gets you there...eventually.)

I got some amazing pictures:
En guarde!

Do you hear the Jaws theme playing?
This floor was so awesome - these holographic fish responded to your movement and would dart away from you.
This reminded me of Avatar...

I found Nemo!  And Dory!

Amy and I at the aquarium.
I decided I love seahorses.  I never knew they were so cool.  And they're called hippocampe in French, which is even cooler.  I definitely will need a tank of them in my future vet clinic.

I had a train adventure on the way home because I had forgotten my Carte 12-25, but luckily I fell through the cracks, didn't get a ticket, and all's well that ends well.
