I'm baaaaaack!

I have been neglecting my poor blog.  But that is because so many things happened that writing about it got overwhelming...and now I have to write a bunch of back entries because if it's not in chronological order it's going to bother me.  I thought about skipping over the bad stuff, but I think it's important to know that living abroad is not all sunshine and rainbows and chocolate croissants and kisses from little children.

Over Christmas break, I had some landlady issues that slowly built up to the point where I decided I couldn't live there anymore.  I'm not going to go into too much detail here but basically, she did a 180 and the situation became unlivable pretty darn fast.

It happens.

I had to get out and get out quick - so on New Year's Eve, the day before Lauren left, I decamped to a hotel.

That was, I'm not gonna lie, an incredibly tough weekend.  "Homeless" may be a dramatic word, but it was kind of true.  Not that I was on the street or anything, but living in a hotel is a temporary situation at best.  Compounding the situation was the fact that it was a holiday weekend (Happy New Year!) so everybody I knew was gone on vacation.

Despite that, I was sending e-mails out like a crazy person (Gwenaëlle was helping too), looking for someone who could help me out.  I knew that in 2 weeks I was going to the US for my WSU Vet School interview, at which point I could leave Daphne at home (as much as it breaks my heart), therefore opening up the possibility to live somewhere that didn't allow pets.  Until that time, however, I had to find somewhere for both of us.
Daphne was unfazed by the hotel.
Fast forward to Sunday night.  I was getting seriously concerned that the next day I was going to have to show up at school with 6 bags and a dog.  Then a miracle happened.  One of the adult students from the stage a couple months before, Elodie, said I could stay with her until I went back to the US.

I literally cannot express how much she has done for me.  Giving me a place to stay for 2 weeks, making phone calls and helping me with organizational things, practicing with me for my interview, letting me eat dinner and hang out with her family - her kindness more than made up for the shadiness of my ex-landlady.

My hero!

After I got back from the US, I moved into the foyer.  I don't have a picture of my room yet, but the building is cool looking and it's super close to one of my schools.

I don't know what these are supposed to be, but they're cute!
