Happy April Fish Day!

Today is Poisson d'Avril, France's version of April Fool's Day, which involves the little kids trying to sneakily stick a paper fish on your back.  My CE1 students kept sticking fish on my back then saying "I swear, Megan, there's nothing on your back!"  7 year olds may be adorable, but subtle they are not.

On an unrelated note, I had to teach my CM2 students something to recite for their exam.  I chose Jack and Jill because it had words they didn't know, so they'd actually have to learn it instead of just memorize it, but it's still not that hard.  As a bonus, it turned out to be chock full of comedic potential.

So now, without further ado, I present Jack and Jill, as recited by my CM2 students.

Me: Jack and Jill went up the hill.
CM2: Jack Angel went hup ze 'ill
Me: To fetch a pail of water.
CM2: TU PETES?!  (apparently this is what "to fetch" sounded like to them)
*intervention by teacher*
CM2: To French...uh...open...beh...water.
Me: Jack fell down and broke his crown
CM2: Jack fell down .......*mumble mumble mumble* DOWN
Me: And Jill came tumbling after.
CM2: Angel tumbling after.

I'm going to miss days like this.
